Making it come to life
Making a story come to life means more than just adding a picture next to the text. In this assignment I was assigned to make the story come to life by giving the story a unique visual style and feeling and adding interaction that complements the story.

Giving it more emotion
The main goal of the project was finding a better way to present the written story. I had full freedom In what I wanted to create. This freedom was nice to have, but also daunting. Figuring out what direction I wanted the project to go was the biggest hurdle to get past.
The text is an emotional journey, its not about numbers or just another news article, but is more an autobiographical story. Because of this I wanted to add more content in the form of illustrations and other article that add to the story itself.
The process
Illustrating the key moments
To make the reader stop and think about what just happened, I wanted to confront them with a moral question. What would you do in this kind of situation? By placing the reader in the position of the main character, they get a better understanding of the situation. Making it more personal.
I illustrated key moments in black and white adding just a splash of colour for a more dramatic effect. When coding it I also wanted to add a little bit of motion to bring the story more to life.
The results
Adding impact through visuals
The result is a prototype website designed and coded in a short timeframe. It’s a proof of concept, where adding illustration, interaction and motion can make a story come to life.
This project showed to me that creating a good visual style can add a lot to the overall experience of a story. The prototype is not responsive and works best on a 15 inch screen.
This is one of the few prototypes I code using HTML, CSS and JS. It gave me a good understanding of setting up a a webpage using things like CSS grid and it's limitations.
